A Gypsum Mine could hold the key to discovering life on Mars

.

Scientists visited Brightling Mine near Robertsbridge, Battle, East Sussex in preparation for a mission this year to send a rover to the Red Planet in search of past life.
The Natural History Museum’s Dr Louisa Preston, pictured far right with colleagues, collected gypsum samples at the quarry as the mineral has also been found on Mars.
As the material is created when water evaporates, scientists believe the discovery of gypsum points the way to water flowing on the Red Planet.
