LEAS PAVILION FOLKESTONE: New images reveal development plan for flats above the Leas Pavilion in Folkestone, Kent
It's been a billiard hall, a club, a theatre and it started life as a tea room. But the Leas Pavilion is now known as an 'at risk' building in Kent. Having been derelict for a decade there's now a new plan to restore the pavilion to its former glory. By building seafront flats, developers hope they can raise the four million pounds needed to bring it back to life. A planning application for one of Folkestone's most famous buildings could be submitted by the middle of April.
This week Guy Holloway, the architect behind Rocksalt in Folkestone and the Picture House in Ashford, showed members of the public what they hope will win over councillors. By building flats above the listed building, developers hope to raise enough money to restore the former tea room that has been derelict for a decade.
