JWD Bypasses Distribution Hubs Deliver Direct to Food Retailers
JWD has adapted its strategy and adjusted its operational model to ensure delays are reduced and products reach retailers on time during the COVID-19 pandemic. JWD said it was bypassing distribution centres, many of which were bottle-necked and was now delivering fresh and ambient food direct to local food stores, retailers and food service outlets in London and the South East. The firms strategy has been adapted according to consumer buying patterns and demand as food and beverage volumes continue to rise and the major supermarkets have issues with their online delivery, click and collect slots and restrictions on store opening hours.
JWD has also created additional handling and distribution capacity at its Eastbourne, East Sussex hub.
